Live from Munich : High End 2015 - The Line Preamplifier

Hi!

Moving forward in the signal path of our demo system, the line stage is next to be presented. It is a 10Y line preamplifier with Tribute OPTVCs (output transformer with secondary configured as volume control).

As the name implies, it uses a 10Y directly heated triode:

This is a new version of the 10Y line stages. It uses a derivate of filament bias. Like the phono stage it has a separate power supply.

In this case since this is still the prototype. It uses a universal PSU with adjustable voltages via a switch array at the back. There will be a dedicated power supply soon since the necessary voltages are determined now.

This line stage is priced at 9.500,- Euros. Come to room F231c to give it a listen.

Best regards

Thomas

  1. Hi Thomas,

I've been interested in this line stage for some time now. If you were to make an absolutely no compromise version of it (ie. silver wound transformers, highest quality parts, perhaps 1602 tubes, etc) what would the price be?
Also is this available as a kit or only as a finished product?

    Many thanks,
    JP

  2. Really enjoyed listening to your amps in Munich. Really beautiful tone. This preamp sounds interesting, in particular what you mean by "derivate of filament bias". Will you be writing more about it on the blog perhaps?
